Lachoo Memorial College of Science & Technology, Jodhpur
History
Mid-1960s, formative years of post-independent India, demanded propagation of higher education in science streams leading to Medical and Engineering. Shri Mathura Das Mathur, one of the builders of modern Rajasthan had already been instrumental in founding the Engineering College, Jodhpur University (now Jai Narain Vyas University) and a Medical College in Jodhpur. He was a great visionary who could foresee a purely science college with uncompromising standards.
The College was established on 2 July 1965. foundation stone was laid by Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia, the then Chief Minister, Rajasthan on 16 April 1966 and Dr V K R V Rao, the then Minister for Education, India inaugurated this new building on 9 August 1969. We are running in the 40th year of serving the society. During this journey we have achieved various milestones in different fields.
The College is included in 2(f) and Section 12(B) in the UGC act and affiliated to Jai Narain Vyas Univesrity, Jodhpur, Rajasthan Technical University, Kota and Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur for different courses.
At present about 2200 students are enrolled in the various course run by the College.
