History - College at Glance
Mid-1960s, formative years of post-independent India,
demanded propagation of higher education in science streams leading to Medical and Engineering.
Shri Mathura Das Mathur, one of the builders of modern Rajasthan had already been instrumental
in founding the Engineering College, Jodhpur University (now Jai Narain Vyas University)
and a Medical College in Jodhpur. He was a great visionary who could foresee a purely science
college with uncompromising standards.
The College was established on 21 July 1965. foundation stone was laid by Shri Mohanlal Sukhadia,
the then Chief Minister, Rajasthan on 16 April 1966 and Dr V K R V Rao, the then Minister for Education,
India inaugurated this new building on 9 August 1969. We are running in the 40th year of serving the society.
During this journey we have achieved various milestones in different fields.
The College is included in 2(f) and Section 12(B) in the UGC act and affiliated to
Jai Narain Vyas Univesrity, Jodhpur, Rajasthan Technical University, Kota and
Rajasthan University of Health Sciences, Jaipur for different courses.
At present about 2200 students are enrolled in the various course run by the College.
1965 College started B.Sc. Course with Bio and Maths combination.
1969 College shifted to current location.
1983 Introduced Diploma Course in Pharmacy for the first time in Rajasthan.
1984 Introduced B.Sc. with Electronics combination.
1986 Introduced B.Sc. with computer Science Combination.
1989 Introduced B.Pharm
1999 Introduced B.Sc. with M.C.V.P. combination
2001 Introduced M.C.A. & M.Pharm (Quality Assurance)
2002 Introduced B.Sc. with biotechnology combination and B.C.A.
2003 Introduced M.Pharm (Pharmaceutical Chemistry)
2004 A Grade institution by NAAC – UGC
2005 Introduced M.Pharm (Pharmacetical Management & Regulatory affairs)
2006 Introduced M.Sc. (Biotechnology)
2007 Introduced M.Sc. (Chemistry, Botany and Physics)
2008 College declared as Model College by State Government
2008 Introduced Ph.D. Programme in Pharmacy
2009 Introduced M.B.A. course with an annual intake of 60.
2010 College selected as “College with Potential for Excellence (CPE) by UGC
2010 Introduced M.Sc. (Zoology) and B.B.A. the annual intake of MCA and MBA
increase from 60 to 120 by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) |
