The Foundation
This Society was established in the fond memory of a freedom fighter and a social worker Shri Man Mohan Mathur ( fondly known as Lachooji ) by his elder brother great freedom fighter Shri Mathura Das Mathur Bha' ji on 21st July 1965.The foundation of the college was laid by then Chief Minister Shri.Mohan Lal Sukhadia.
The College was shifted to its Shastri Nagar premises on 9th August 1969.
Prof. D.S.Kothari chairman UGC and Prof. V.K.R.V Rao inaugurated the new building. |

Shri Mathura Das Mathur( Bha'ji )
Born on Sept. 6, 1918 at Jodhpur did his schooling from Jodhpur and B.Sc from Lucknow University in 1935. He was quite impressed by the philosophy of Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya. He joined M.Sc ( Zoology ) but couldn't continue as he joined the independence movement. Mean while he joined L.LB and completed it in 1939. At the same time he was quite active in the independence movement. He was imprisoned many times. On 13th march 1947 in Dabda village in Nagaur District,there was a meeting. The British's attacked and attempts of killing were made. Bhaji was seriously injured but he never gave up. In 1948 he became education and health minister of the first government of Marwar State. Later he was Home minister of Rajasthan from 1962 - 1967. |
